Cranbrook mayor looking for more improvements in 2024

Cranbrook’s mayor was happy with city council’s achievements over the past year but says they need to build on the work they’ve done.

Mayor Wayne Price said council did a lot of work addressing Cranbrook’s social issues, but there is always more work to do.

Once the city’s budget is wrapped up, Price says they aren’t taking time off and instead will hit the ground running.

“We’re looking at ways we can strengthen the process and look at ways to keep tax rates down and increase revenues,” he added.

“I’m looking for opportunities in development and we do have a number of projects that were on line last year that never came to fruition last year. It looks like some of them will be coming forward this year so that’s going to make a difference.

The mayor says a lot of the work they’ve done wouldn’t have been possible without city CAO Mark Fercho and other city staff.

“He’s an extremely strong CAO and certainly you can see the difference in our operations and our staff senior team,” Price said.

“I’m really impressed with where he’s taken our city and I’m very fortunate to work with the people I work with at city hall. My first full year has been extremely enjoyable and I think that’s in large part to the staff I work with daily.”
