Drug alert issued for Cranbrook area

Interior Health has issued a drug alert for the Cranbrook region after high amounts of fentanyl, benzos and xylazine were found in down.

The drugs look like pink chunks and have been sold as down, dope or fentanyl.

Interior Health says the risk of overdose is very high and may not respond to naloxone.

Officials still recommend carrying naloxone and getting drugs checked before use at places like ANKORS.

They also don’t recommend using alone.

The drug alert will be in place until Dec. 28.
