Cranbrook issues holiday waste reminder for recycling bins

With the plethora of wrapping paper, shipping boxes, bows and gift bags that come with the holiday season, the City of Cranbrook is reminding residents what can be recycled and what needs to be thrown out.

It’s great that you have a handy option at your doorstep with your curbside recycling cart, to help manage the cleanup,” said city staff.

“However, remembering what you can place in your cart and what needs to be taken to the Cranbrook Transfer Station can be challenging.”

City staff said most present waste can go in the curbside recycling bins, however, some things can not.

This includes wrapping paper with glitter, foil or holographic material, along with ribbons, bows, bubble wrap and foam packing peanuts.

If you still need help, the city has the waste wizard. You can search for whatever material you have that you want to recycle, and the wizard will tell you how to properly dispose of it.
