Ongoing drug investigation leads to two arrests

Cranbrook RCMP arrested two people believed to be involved in an ongoing drug investigation.

Police officials said the arrest was made early Monday morning when officers made a traffic stop in the 10th Street South area.

Two people were apprehended at the scene and a search of the vehicle turned up a storage locker with about 600 grams of suspected cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamines.

RCMP officials said the drugs had an estimated street value of $90,000

The 75-year-old resident of Cranbrook and his female passenger were released while the investigation continues.

“The Cranbrook Enhanced Response Unit, along with members from the Cranbrook Detachment, continues to work toward getting drugs off the street in an effort to curtail the ongoing social damage caused by the sale of these illegal drugs,” said Cst Katie Forgeron.
