Part of Cranbrook’s 9th Avenue South to close for infrastructure work

A section of Cranbrook’s 9th Avenue South will be closed later this week for water service installation.

The road between Baker Street and 1st Street South will be open to local traffic only from Wednesday to Friday.

“Contractors will be working to bring a new water service line into the new Ktunaxa Health Centre, located in the former Mega Deal Furniture building,” said the City of Cranbrook.

You will still be able to access businesses along that stretch of road from either end of the street.

Drivers are asked to obey posted signs and avoid the area if they can to prevent traffic congestion.

“As with any work on the City’s water system, once the new water service line is charged, nearby residents and businesses may notice some discoloured water for a very brief period,” said city officials. “If you do experience discoloured water, please run your cold water until the water runs clear.”
