Vandalism to the Kimberley Gymnastics centre rebuild will slow down work to get the facility reopened.
It was discovered that the building was vandalized and electrical wires were cut.
“I’m saddened and frustrated and it is very disheartening to everyone,” said Donna Andrews, Kimberley Gymnastics Club manager.
“It’s hard to understand why someone would do that and it hurts the community as a whole as the Gymnastics and the daycare is needed and loved by many.”
Police have been informed and are looking for anyone with information to come forward.
“I hope that if anyone hears or saw anything, step forward and go to the Kimberley police and hopefully the contractor can get the electrician back in as soon as possible to get back on track and maybe the city should consider putting up some cameras,” Andrews added.
The old gymnastics building was destroyed in December of 2021 due to Arson.
A man was arrested and charged in January 2022.
The new facility was set to open in early 2024.
“We are still hopeful that we can be up and running in the spring and I appreciate the support of the messages and comments I have been receiving through our Facebook page,” Andrews said.
“We will keep moving forward.”
