First snowfall expected for region’s provincial parks and passes

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for multiple areas in the East Kootenay and Columbia Valley.

In Revelstoke, Golden, and Tsar Creek, showers will be mixed with flurries today and experience periods of snow overnight.

Rogers Pass and Yoho Park – Kootenay Park is expected to see snow start Monday morning and continue through Tuesday.

Five to 10 centimetres is expected in those locations.

Less than five centimetres is expected in the East Kootenay, including Invermere and the Elk Valley.

Snowfall should start this evening and persist until late Tuesday afternoon.

Environment Canada is urging caution from drivers.
