East Kootenay Foundation for Health Makes Push in Donation Drive

The East Kootenay Foundation for Health has partnered with Rocky Mountain Collision in its 2019 Starlite Campaign to push towards its goal of purchasing a SPEC CT Machine.

EKHF said that Rocky Mountain Collison has pledged to match donations dollar for dollar up to $10,000 on December 10, 2019.

“We are all going to rely on regional health services to maintain and support
our health at some point,” said Chris Thom, owner of Rocky Mountain Collision. “The convenience of a SPECT CT will not only bring diagnosis closer to home, but it will also enhance our quality of life by offering earlier detection and treatment. If you are considering how you can make an impact on healthcare in our region, please consider donating to the SPECT CT campaign.”

Rocky Mountain Collision has given donations in the past, and the EKFH said it has donated $113,400 since 2005.

The EKFH added that it will be set up in the main lobby of the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook to accept donations.

Cranbrook’s Regional Hospital is the only regional hospital in all of B.C. that does not have a SPECT CT machine, according to the EKFH, and residents within the region must travel to Kelowna to get teests done by the device.

“The SPECT CT combines a gamma camera with a CT
scanner to create 3D images,” said the EKHF. “It will be an incredible addition to diagnosis and set up treatment plans for cancer, coronary artery disease, kidney failure, dementia, infection, fractures, Parkinson’s disease and the list goes on!”

The fundraiser’s goal is $1.2 million to purchase the equipment, and the campaign will go on until December 31, 2019.

Donations can be made at the East Kootenay Regional hospital on December 10th, or on the EKHF website.
