The Southeast District Major Crime Unit has taken over an investigation in Sparwood after a man was found dead in a Sparwood home.
Police received a shooting report on Oct. 11 at 3:16 p.m.
The shooting occurred at a trailer in the 6200 block of Lower Elk Valley Road.
The Elk Valley RCMP searched the trailer and located the deceased man. No details about the man have been released.
A man outside the trailer was arrested.
The death was deemed suspicious and the Southeast District Major Crime Unit has taken over.
“The initial investigation leads us to believe this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public”, says S/Sgt. Jason Smart.
“This investigation is in its infancy and investigators will be looking at all avenues in an effort to determine what occurred and who was involved.”
Residents can expect an increased police presence in the community.
