Second phase of Moir Park trail unveiled

The second phase of Moir Park’s paved trail is now open and ready for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Cranbrook Rotary Club President Heidi Romich said the trail is the result of a lot of planning.

“The two trails that we’ve done have been our centennial project – a vision for a number of years,” said Romich. “To see the second phase completed is inspiring and amazing with how many people worked together to make it a reality.”

The pathway runs around the soccer field, offering a connection with the disk golf course.

Romich said the expanded trail network means Moir Park will be more accessible to all users.

“It keeps people mobile, people of all ages and mobility levels,” said Romich. “There are so many seniors using it, as well as bikes, parents with strollers, people who are in rehab and people who are mobility impaired in some way. Everyone can use it.”

Phase 2 may be done, but the Rotary Club of Cranbrook is not done with Moir Park just yet.

“We have two more phases to come, so we’ll be doing some more trail networks up here: around the fields and the connector down to Rails to Trails if all goes well,” said Romich. “We’ve talked for many years about connecting it to Rotary Way, so all of those are on the table. We’ll see what the future brings.”
