BC Highway Patrol handed out 71 speeding tickets while patrolling the Highway 93 corridor between Radium Hot Springs and the Alberta border.
Columbia Valley RCMP officials said a majority of those ticketed drivers were travelling over 30 kilometres per hour above the speed limit.
One particular driver was clocked going 58 kilometres per hour above the legal limit.
A number of other infractions were caught while police patrolled the area.
“A 3-day suspension was issued under the Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) legislation for registering a warning on a roadside screening device,” said RCMP officials. “Multiple warnings were also issued for more minor traffic offences.”
Police said they will keep looking for drivers who are not following the rules of the road.
“The Columbia Valley RCMP and BC Highway Patrol will continue to have a presence in the Park during the Highway 1 closures and beyond,” said RCMP officials.
