The District of Elkford is reminding residents of the community’s firearms regulation bylaw now that hunting season is in full swing.
It’s important that residents never discharge a firearm within the area of the District of Elkford as seen on the map below.
There are two potential punishments for people who don’t follow the bylaw.
If a resident is issued a ticket there will be a fine and penalty of not more than $1,000 and not less than $100 for each offence.
If a resident is prosecuted they face a fine and penalty of not more than $10,000.00 and not less than $500.00 for each offence.
