Cranbrook’s Bowen Byram and the Colorado Avalanche are getting set for another season, with preseason starting this weekend.
Byram is coming off a year where he scored 10 goals and 14 assists in 42 games.
He’s entering his fourth year in the NHL with a new contract.
On July 1, Byram inked a two-year extension and will now earn $3.85 million a season.

The Avalanche are looking for a return to form this season. While they still had a good year and made the playoffs, the team was plagued by injuries which kept them from the same success they had the year prior when they won the Stanley Cup.
The first preseason game is against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday.
