Sparwood begins riverbank stabilization near Lower Matevic Road

Crews are starting bank stabilization work in Sparwood along the Elk River this week.

District officials said the riverbank stabilization project will happen near the south abutment of the pedestrian bridge along Lower Matevic Road.

Crews arrived at the site on Wednesday, but work is weather-dependent.

Path users are asked to use caution and follow signage when passing through the area.

“Changes in accessibility in the area is expected to change as construction progresses through the different phases of work,” said Sparwood officials.
