Kicking Horse Canyon Phase 4 enters final push towards completion

Highway 1 is set to fully close two more times for the final construction of the Kicking Horse Canyon project.

An extended closure will occur from Sept. 18-22 and again from Sept. 25-Oct. 6.

Drivers will have to detour through Radium Hot Springs using highways 93S and 95.

This will add around an hour and a half of travel time.

The construction zone will open briefly to limited local and commuter traffic with prearranged permits twice daily.

Drivers will be escorted by a pilot vehicle during half-hour periods beginning at 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

This also applies to school buses.

The highway will be fully open again for the Thanksgiving long weekend.

After that, there will be some daytime stoppages and overnight closures until work wraps up.
