BC Hydro Responding to Local Power Outages

BC Hydro is responding to a handful of power outages in the East Kootenay, affecting more than 640 customers Wednesday morning.

The majority of the power outages are in the Elk Valley. According to BC Hydro, the largest outage is in the Grasmere area, affecting 118 customers. Power first went out around 9:12 am and crews have since assigned to restore service.

The next largest active outage is west of Grasmere heading towards Lake Koocanusa, impacting 65 customers, originally going out at 6:42 am. Both of those active outages are a result of a tree falling down over BC Hydro’s power lines.

Meanwhile, BC Hydro is also responding to five other smaller outages, knocking out power to 44 combined customers in the Grasmere area, at Rosen Lake, and along Highway 3 just north of Caithness.
