Sparwood pool re-opening delayed

The hot tub replacement at the Sparwood Leisure Centre is taking longer than initially expected with the re-opening not happening until late 2023.

The hot tub replacement isn’t the only work happening at the leisure centre.

The tiling in the pool is also being redone.

“The tiles are now over 40 years old,” said Mayor David Wilks.

“Their life expectancy is 15 years, so we’re a little overdue.”

Wilks had said they were hoping to have the pool open by the end of September.

In the meantime, the fitness centre, courts and climbing wall remain open.
