St. Mary River fire being held, many evacuation alerts rescinded

The St. Mary River wildfire is now being held, so the evacuation alerts for 667 properties have been rescinded.

“We are so grateful to the BC Wildfire Service for their tireless efforts throughout the past 12 days,” says Information Officer Loree Duczek.

“This is another positive step forward and I know residents who have been on Alert will be excited to hear this news.”

The evacuation alerts and orders in ʔaq’am are still in effect and updates will be given on their community Facebook page.

The area restriction around the fire is still in place.
