Meant 2B Loved Pet Rescue Society and Top Crop Garden Farm and Pet are working to coordinate shelter for pets and livestock belonging to residents impacted by the St. Mary’s wildfire.
Top Crop owner Shannon Fisher said she has an extensive list of people who are willing to help keep livestock and pets safe.
“We can help people get all of their animals to someplace safe,” said Fisher. “Anyone who’s looking for help, we can provide troughs and panels.”
Fisher said if you need a place to keep your animals, you should call her store at 250-489-4555. The same with those who are willing and have space to shelter them as well.
“If someone can call us and, for example, say they need a place for two horses, we can give out names of people who have phoned our store and said they can take two horses,” explained Fisher. “Horses and other animals are going to be very scared at this time, so the less stress the better.”
Top Crop is also helping supply food to evacuees and those providing shelter.
“We’ll look out for feeding everybody. We don’t want people worried about that if they can’t get their feed,” said Fisher. “We just want people to get their animals out safely.”
Meanwhile, Meant 2B Loved Pet Rescue Society is working to coordinate shelter for people’s pets.
“When folks evacuated, they evacuated with their pets. It became very obvious very quickly that we were going to need to house and home pets,” said Joe Pierre Jr., Ê”aqÌ“am NasuÊ”kin. “Meant 2B Loved has really stepped up, so I want to mention them specifically.”
