Donations pouring in for families affected by St. Mary Wildfire

Update: The Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child and Family Services Society is asking residents to hold off on material donations due to the amount already given.

They said monetary donations are the most helpful at this time.

Original: The Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child and Family Services Society has arranged a donation drop-off for those affected by the wildfire.

Donations can be dropped off at the ʔaq̓am Dan Joe Memorial Gym, which is located at 7500 Mission Road.

The most needed donations include clothing, shoes, hygiene products and pet food. Camping gear including tents and blankets is also needed.

If you can’t drop off donations yourself, you can contact Megan Holmes at (250) 421-7301 or (250) 489-4563 to arrange a pickup.

The ʔaq̓am community has also said there are no active or approved Gofundme pages.

If people would like to donate money they should contact the director of finance Ivan Winter at [email protected].

Residents needing to move livestock can contact Top Crop at 250-489-4555 for help and anyone who can temporarily take livestock can call that number as well.
