Mount Kindersley fire still burning out of control

A blaze northeast of Invermere in Kootenay National Park is still burning out of control.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the fire’s last recorded size was approximately 10.7 hectares.

Yesterday two attack crews established water access around the perimeter of the fire, while two helicopters supported with buckets.

Kootenay National Park officials said there is no threat to public safety or infrastructure at this time due to the higher elevation.

The fire was reported on Sunday and is believed to be lightning-caused.

There are two other fires in our area, but both are under control.

Both of them are along Willie Phillips Creek near the Roosville border crossing.

One is believed to be lightning cause, while the other is human-caused.
