Cranbrook’s Bowen Byram has signed a two-year deal with the Colorado Avalanche.
Byram’s contract is worth $7.7 million with a $3.85 million yearly cap hit.
He had a strong season when he was in the lineup scoring 10 goals and 24 points, but he missed about half the season due to injury.
Byram was second in goals by a defenceman on the team and became the third blueliner in franchise history to score 10+ goals in a season at age 21 or younger.
A second Cranbrook player also signed a new contract.
Dryden Hunt has re-signed with the Calgary Flames.
His new contract is a two-year, two-way deal worth $775,000 per season.
Hunt played for four teams last season, starting with the Rangers, moving on to the Avalanche, getting traded to the Maple Leafs and then landing in Calgary.
