Special Olympics BC Cranbrook/Kimberley returns from Berlin with silver

Two athletes from the Kootenays have returned from Germany with some silver in their pockets.

Coach Misty Pagliaro says the trip was great but a little gruelling.

“It’s been a long two and a half weeks but it’s been a fantastic journey,” she said.

“There were long days. We were up at 5 a.m., on buses by seven and at the course by 10 and back by 7 p.m.”

Erin Thom from Cranbrook competed in golf and Wayne Gowanlock from Fernie participated in bocce.

“They both performed very well,” Pagliano said. “They both won silver medals in their sports.”

They had a welcoming committee at the airport waiting for them to land.
