The Spirit of the Rockies festival kicked off this morning in Cranbrook and runs all weekend.
Pancake breakfasts are available every morning and BBQs will be set up around town.
The main festivities will take place on Saturday, including the parade, strongman competition and the wiener dog races.
“I think it’s going to be very much the same flavour as Sam Steele Days was,” said Mayor Wayne Price.
“We have the parade on Saturday at 10 O’clock in the morning and all kinds of entertainment lined up for the weekend. We’re really looking forward to it.”
This is the first year under the new name after it was changed from Sam Steele Days in January.

The Youth Ambassador Showcase takes place Friday night and the festival wraps up on Sunday.
