Bucks sign Swedish defenceman for upcoming season

The Cranbrook Bucks have signed defenceman Loke Södergren for the 2023-24 season.

Södergren played for the Malmo Redhawks J20 program in Sweden last year. He put up 10 goals and 30 points in 50 games.

“While there will certainly be a transition to the North American style of play, we believe his skillset matches that of some of our previous defensemen that have had a lot of success in our program,” said head coach and general manager Ryan Donald.

“With his goal to play in the NCAA, we are excited to have Loke using the BCHL to pursue that goal this coming season.”

Donald said Södergren is detailed on the defensive, likes to lay the body, but also has the ability to create offense from the blueline.
