Local rower to compete on the world stage

Cranbrook’s Katie Clark will be rowing in Italy next week, representing Canada in the upcoming World Cup II.

She will be competing in the doubles race.

“Originally the plan was to race the woman’s quad, but while we were doing selection we had a really fast pace on our double, Clark said.

“We’re super excited to get overseas and get on the start line.”

She says this is a first in her rowing career.

“I’ve raced a few U23 world championships and was a spare for the senior team at the World Championships last year, but this is my first time getting to race at the senior level officially.”

She said she’s excited to have this opportunity on the world stage.

“It feels like things are coming into place and I’m coming into my own,” she added.

“I’m really excited to be able to show the world what I can do.’

The World Cup II runs from June 16-18 in Varese, Italy.
