College packed for year end track meet

Kids from all over Cranbrook have flocked to the College of the Rockies to compete in the year-end track meet.

“That includes all of the schools within SD5 and also the private schools Aqamnik, St. Mary’s and Kootenay Christian Academy,” said Amy Woodland’s principal Scott Holt.

He said the track meet had been a success.

“It’s been a great day. It’s been really hot, but the kids have been having a good time. Lots of smiles and lots of cheers, it’s been great all the way around.”

He added that it’s always nice to be able to have it held at the college.

“This facility is amazing, we’ve been coming here for many years. A big thanks to the college for letting us use it.”

The completion this year has also been top-notch.

“I do know that a number of our records have been broken and in one of our races we had three records broken,” said Holt.

He said around 500 kids took part in the track meet.
