Windermere firefighters respond to explosion and fire

The Windermere Fire Department was sent out to a structure fire which left one person injured on Monday night.

“We received a report of an explosion and fire at approximately 8:30 p.m.,” said Columbia Valley Rural Fire & Rescue Chief Drew Sinclair. “There was minimal fire damage; however, the home did sustain extensive structural damage.”

11 firefighters with three apparatus managed to contain the fire and isolate the building’s utilities.

Crews remained on the scene to check for any hidden flames.

The home’s occupant was taken to the hospital by a family member with undetermined burns before first responders arrived.

The cause of the fire is unknown for now and the investigation is ongoing.
