B.C. opens consultations for 2024 budget

B.C. residents are invited to share what they want to see in the next provincial budget.

The provincial government is taking written submissions until June 16 at 2 p.m. Pacific Time.

Public hearings will also go ahead starting on Monday, with the presentation of the Budget 2024 consultation paper by the Minister of Finance.

You can get involved in the feedback sessions through a number of methods, which can be found at the bottom of this article.

“The committee will consider all input received and intends to release its report with recommendations to the legislative assembly for the next budget in August 2023,” said the provincial government.

The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services will be in charge of the public consultation sessions, giving residents an opportunity to share their ideas and priorities for the next budget.

The committee is made up of the following members:

  • Mike Starchuk, MLA, Surrey-Cloverdale (chair)
  • Tom Shypitka, MLA, Kootenay East (deputy chair)
  • Bruce Banman, MLA, Abbotsford South
  • Susie Chant, MLA, North Vancouver-Seymour
  • George Chow, MLA, Vancouver-Fraserview
  • Ronna-Rae Leonard, MLA, Courtenay-Comox
  • Ben Stewart, MLA, Kelowna West
  • Adam Walker, MLA, Parksville-Qualicum
  • Henry Yao, MLA, Richmond South Centre
