Out of control fire burning east of Radium

A 288-hectare blaze is burning out of control near Mitchell Ridge East of Radium Hot Springs.

The fire was sparked on Sunday and is believed to be lightning-caused.

According to Kootenay National Park officials, 33 firefighters are being supported by two helicopters.

Officials said the fire spread is slowing thanks in part to 24ml of rain yesterday.
