Update: The Elk Valley RCMP says Highway 3 has reopened in both directions.
Original: The Elk Valley RCMP is on the scene of an accident between Sparwood and the Alberta border., which has closed Highway 3.
Police said the highway is closed in both directions and no detour is in place.
Officers are hoping the highway will reopen to single-lane alternating traffic soon.
