Starlite Campaign Aims to Raise Money for Medical Scanner in Cranbrook Hospital

The East Kootenay Foundation for Health has kicked off its Starlite Campaign for this year.

Money raised will go to purchasing a single-photon emission computerized tomography (SPECT/CT) machine.

The machine would allow the East Kootenay Regional Hospital to scan for blood flow, gastrointestinal function, immune system activity, tumours and many other possible ailments.

“That, right now is our biggest area of need,” said executive director, Brenna Baker. “It’s a huge, important piece of equipment that we need for the East Kootenay region and it will serve everyone in the East Kootenay.”

The campaign has a goal of $1.2 million to buy the SPEC/CT machine, and so far, it has raised $250,000.

Fundraising for the Starlite campaign will continue to December 31, 2019.

Donations can be made on the East Kootenay Foundation for Health’s website.
