Region downgraded to high streamflow advisory

The flood risk is still around but our region has been downgraded to a high streamflow advisory.

The Kootenay-Boundary area had been under a flood warning while the Kootenays were under a flood watch.

The change was made by the BC River Forecast Centre at 8 a.m. on Monday.

Forecasters said cooler weather is expected early in the week followed by seasonally high temperatures.

Waterways are expected to recede into the middle of the week but are expected to rise again next weekend due to increases in higher-elevation snowmelt.

You should stay away from fast-flowing rivers and avoid fishing, swimming, boating or hiking near them.
