Over 8,000 pounds of food donated to Cranbrook Food Bank

A one-day food drive brought in 8,126 pounds to the Cranbrook Food Bank.

The community-wide effort happened on Saturday, and residents were asked to leave non-perishable food on their porches for pickup.

“Thank you for your big hearts and generosity! We are humbled and so grateful,” said the Cranbrook Food Bank Society.

“Together, you brought in a whopping 8,126 pounds of food to feed those in need in our community.”

Officials said the LDS Church helped organize the food drive.

“The Cranbrook Food Bank has recently lost significant support from larger food banks (most notably Calgary) in food share donations as they must focus on their community’s needs,” said the Food Bank.

“The LDS church organized a city-wide food drive for us on May 6, which couldn’t have come at a better time, as our warehouse looks pretty bare.”
