Brush thinning planned for Rails to Trails

The City of Cranbrook said brush thinning work will be starting soon along a section of the Rails to Trails corridor.

City staff said the work should be done in the next few weeks, but the exact date hasn’t been decided yet.

The public will be notified beforehand.

The first phase of the project will help improve sightlines and reduce the risk of wildfires.

It will focus on the section of trail from the train bridge over the St. Mary River through to the Wycliffe Park Road parking lot at the entrance to the Shadow Mountain community.

While work is underway, the section of the trail will be closed to the public.
