Bucks net-minder named BCHL Goalie of the Year

Another Cranrbook Buck is getting recognition by the BC Hockey League for their performance this season.

Nathan Airey has been named the Goalie of the Year, winning the Michael Garteig trophy.

Head coach and GM Ryan Donald says the award is well deserved.

“He’s been terrific,” he added.

He earned that award from the performance that he had from the beginning of the season to the end of it. He’s certainly a big piece of our success as a team and the backbone of our group on a lot of nights. I’m extremely happy for him to be rewarded and acknowledged with the Goalie of the Year award.”

Airey won 29 of his 36 starts and posted a .925 save percentage and a 2.24 goals-against average. He also had two shutouts.

Donald also won a league award, picking up coach of the year yesterday.
