The City of Cranbrook will be conducting a 79-hectare burn around the Canadian Rockies International Airport.
Crews are planning to start on Wednesday as long as the weather remains good.
City staff said the burn will help create a holding line to protect the airport ahead of a more extensive burn being done by ʔaq’am this weekend.
Smoke will be visible from Cranbrook, ʔaq’am, Kimberley and surrounding areas, as well as Highway 93 and Highway 95A.
