Kimberley opens application for Safe Restart Grant

The City of Kimberley has launched a new one-time grant program aimed at supporting non-profit organizations that serve local vulnerable populations.

City officials said organizations are welcome to apply to the Safe Restart Grant program, which will doll out up to $10,000 to help them recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Funds may be used to address shortfalls experienced during the pandemic, help organizations recover pandemic-related expenses such as personal protective equipment (PPE), cleaning and sanitation supplies, technology upgrades, or other critical needs related to supporting our vulnerable community members,” said the City of Kimberley.

Non-profits must be located within Kimberley, have demonstrated commitment to serving vulnerable populations, and have been negatively impacted by the pandemic.

Applications are open until 4 p.m. on May 10 with forms found through the link at the end of this article.

Money for the grants comes from the B.C. government.

“Funds were distributed to municipalities to support increased costs and reduced revenues resulting from the COVID-19 global pandemic. It is anticipated that grant recipients will be announced in mid-June 2023,” said city officials.
