Smoke rising near Cranbrook on Tuesday comes from debris piles being set alight on private land east of the Community Forest.
City officials said the work is being done under the Province’s Open Burning Smoke Control, with supervision from the property owner.
The burn happened on Tuesday because the Province considers the venting conditions favourable in Cranbrook.
