An avalanche near Kaslo has claimed the life of one Nelson police officer, and critically injured another.

No details have been released as of yet, but we will continue to update as more information becomes available.

The Nelson police board, the City of Nelson, and the Nelson Police Department offer their condolences and support to the families at this time.
