Extreme cold temperatures are expected to last for most of the week and the City of Fernie is trying to prevent frozen pipes.
City staff recommend switching on a bleeder valve or getting one installed and insolating exposed pipes to reduce heat loss and regulate line temperature.
You should also try to seal any cracks or holes near water lines to eliminate cold air sources.
To avoid burst pipes city staff recommend letting faucets trickle to maintain a continuous flow of water and keeping your home well-heated.
If you think you have frozen pipes, contact a plumber to inspect your lines.
