Forty-one groups in the East Kootenay are getting funds to help improve arts, culture and sports access.
For the arts and culture grants, funds are going to four in Cranbrook, two in Golden, and one each in Fernie, Kimberley and Invermere.
This includes $43,900 to the Cranbrook Archives, Museum and Landmark Foundation and $18,000 for Studio 64 in Kimberley.
Sports grants are being handed out to 11 Cranbrook organizations, six in Invermere, five in both Kimberley and Golden, two in Creston and one each in Sparwood and Elkford.
This includes $22,000 for the Creston Valley Gymnastics Club, $24,000 to the Columbia Valley Skating Club and $60,000 to the Cranbrook Minor Hockey Association.
“People’s lives are enhanced by the sports, arts and cultural programming that not-for-profit organizations offer throughout British Columbia,” said Anne Kang, Minister of Municipal Affairs in a release.
“Healthy, vibrant communities are key to a healthy, vibrant province and these grants are one way our government is helping people in communities thrive.”
