The recent snowfall is keeping Mainroad East Kootenay busy as more snow fell the originally forecasted.
Up to 15 cm in some areas was the expected amount but many areas saw accumulations of up to 40 cm.
Mainroad officials said they have been out plowing priority highways and applying mainly sand to help restore traction.
They are now moving on to lower priority roadways and removing snow from shoulders on the higher-priority numbered highways.
