A head-on collision between a transport truck and a Honda Civic on Highway 3 near Sparwood has left an Alberta man dead.
Police were alerted to the crash at around 6:25 p.m. on Nov. 21.
When officers arrived the transport truck was fully engulfed in flames and across the highway.
The civic was severely damaged and the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police said the driver of the semi-truck was cooperative with police and was taken to the Elk Valley Hospital and was deemed uninjured.
They said the road conditions were not good at the time and alcohol or drugs were not believed to be a factor in the collision.
“Highway 3 remained closed for a period of time, but has since re-opened.” said Cst. Debra Katerenchuk.
“The involved vehicles remained on scene for safe removal during daylight hours. There were no other personal injuries or property damage.”
The Elk Valley RCMP is continuing their investigation.
