City of Cranbrook Prepared for Slippery Roads

Monday’s sudden snowfall brought many road closures and accidents, but the City of Cranbrook is making winter road maintenance preparations with Public Works.

The City said the winter operations program works to keep roads safe for both drivers and pedestrians.

Residents are also reminded of the City’s PlowCRANBROOK tool, a map that slows where ploughs have removed snow in the last 24 hours, up to the last 7 days, including current locations.

“We hear from customers every year asking where the snowplow is and when their street will get plowed,” says Tony Hetu, Deputy Director of Public Works. “We also get asked about why snow plowing is done the way it is. I hope residents will use the tool and explore our website for lots of great information on why we prioritize the routes we do and other details on our operations.”

The City added that it is important that drivers drive to the road conditions.

“Slow down and give yourself additional time and space to stop your vehicle. It’s also important to provide plenty of space for winter maintenance equipment and other vehicles,” said the City of Cranbrook.

In addition to the PlowCRANBROOK map, the City also has information on what you can do during a snow storm.
