Avalanche sweep at global series in Finland, but Byram injured

Bowen Byram and the Colorado Avalanche were in Finland over the weekend for a two-game series against the Columbus Blue Jackets and went home with a sweep.

Unfortunately, Byram was unable to play the second game due to an injury.

He racked up over 17 minutes on Friday and had three blocks. The Avalanche came away with the win in a high scoring 6-3 game.

Byram was a game-time decision for the next game on Saturday but ended up not taking the ice.

“He tried it obviously in warmup to see if he could go,” said Bednar.

“He’s day-to-day I would have him at this point, but he wasn’t able to do it. We’ll get home and reevaluate going into the three-day rest.”

While no injury is good, it appears to be a lower-body injury and not concussion-related.

The Avalanche had a strong game on Saturday beating the Blue Jackets 5-1 and finishing the sweep.

Byram currently has two goals and three assists in 10 games this season.

The Avalanche are now off until Thursday when they play the Nashville Predators giving Byram time to heal up.
