BCHL joins forces on brain health initiative

All BCHL players will have access to innovative brain health assessment technology under a new partnership between the league and HealthTech Connex (HTC).

HTC’s NeuroCatch platform enables access to an objective assessment of brain health in minutes.

“We are pleased to be working alongside HTC to give our players the opportunity to use their state-of-the-art NeuroCatch® technology,” said BCHL Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer Steven Cocker.

“The health and well-being of our athletes are of the utmost importance to the BCHL and our 18 teams.”

Players can also use NeuroCatch to optimize their performance by working on and monitoring their cognitive abilities.

“Our mission is to positively impact a billion brains, and it was an easy decision to work with the top Junior A hockey league, which happens to be in our backyard,” said Dr. Ryan D’Arcy, HTC’s President and Chief Scientific Officer.

“Not only is it extremely important to have an objective evaluation of brain health when making a decision to return an injured player back onto the ice, but our technology also allows us to repeatedly scan players throughout the course of a season, and their career, to monitor for any significant changes in their brain function.”
