Cranbrook warns of thin ice as winter begins

With temperatures starting to drop and snow falling, the City of Cranbrook is urging residents to be careful around the community’s waterways.

City staff said it’s important to be aware of the dangers of thin ice, especially along Joseph Creek, Elizabeth Lake and Idlewild Lake.

You shouldn’t go on any ice until it’s at least six inches thick.

City staff ask that you talk with your kids about the dangers of thin ice and lead by example by staying off the ice and keeping pets away.
