Invermere to hold public hearing on proposed rezoning

Invermere residents can weigh in on a plan to rezone a commercial property to make way for future housing development.

District officials said if the bylaw change passes, it will change the zoning designation for 2144, 13th Avenue from neighbourhood commercial to multi-family residential.

According to council documents, the space has been reserved for commercial development for a number of years, but no applications came forward.

“The applicant’s desire is to abandon the Neighbourhood Commercial opportunity which currently exists and amend the current land use designation and zoning to support additional residential development,” stated council documents.

Residents will be able to have their say at the council meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Written comments will be accepted until noon on Monday.
