Production at the Elkview mine could be halted for two months after a structural failure of the plant feed conveyor belt.
Teck officials said initial estimates are that production at Elkview Operations will be interrupted for 1-2 months as repairs are made.
Planned maintenance has been moved up to take advantage of the downtime.
Mine operations will focus on pre-stripping during the outage.
